10 conscious shoe brands for the discerning customer

Shopping for shoes that cause minimal harm to the planet is hard work. The array of components that make up a shoe are all very difficult to source sustainably, whether that be the material used on the outside, the sole or the glue. So we have put together a list for you to strut your stuff with a clean conscience.

1. Bourgeois Boheme

This UK-based shoe brand has just gone through a major re-brand, now making super stylish shoes out of completely sustainable materials. Pinatex, organic cotton and cork are just a few of the materials used to make this brand Vegan Society trademarked and PETA approved.

2. Marais USA

Aside from making pretty cool slides in a variety of heel heights, styles and colours, Marais USA makes everything in LA and even has options for vegans.

3. Veja

Sourcing their materials and manufacturing in Brazil, Veja works directly with small, local farmers to source sustainable materials for their footwear. It also has a line for vegans too.

4. Rombaut

For the edgier consumer, Rombaut uses materials such as tree bark, natural rubber,  and coconut fiber, as well as artisanally crafting its shoes in Italy.
